As a writer, Ria creates poems, short stories, flash fiction and articles of human interest.
Ria Falkner won second place in the 2010 Royal Palm Literary Awards Competition of the Florida Writers Association for her Flash Fiction, A Love Story. Four of her stories made the finals.

In1993, her article, Music Therapy in the Adult Day Center, was published in the Journal of Music Therapy. Last year, her poem, Dear Hamlet, was published in The Florida Times-Union. In 2008, she co-wrote the libretto for the opera Siddhartha. She recently completed a commission to rewrite and edit the autobiography of musician and composer, Alba Rosa Vietor.
A member of the Florida Writer's Association, The North Florida Writers and the Ponte Vedra Poets, Ria has read her poems at the St. Augustine Book Fair, The Jacksonville Public Library and The National Arts Committee.
She is currently working on a collectin of poems and a novel.
